Jake

Just hopping on here to let everyone know that Jake was taken off the ventilator this afternoon! He is so far maintaining his breathing on his own, he is on 35% oxygen through the nose, but that should go away tonight. They are hoping to that tube gone as well as have him on room air by tomorrow so that we can hold him finally. Once he's on room air and doing fine, they will try bottle feeding and he has to be able to maintain his breathing while eating, up until now his milk has gone through a feeding tube that he has. Once he has completed those tasks, he should be able to come home. We haven't heard a date yet since everything is dependent on the step before, Andy and I are required to take an infant CPR and child care class before he will be discharged. We signed up 2 days ago for this tuesday, so hopefully he will get to come home soon after that. He hasn't done a whole lot of crying, the nurse said to expect him to be hoarse for a few days, but that it will go away once his throat heals from the ventilator. You can now see Jake's face, here a couple of him. Addy is doing great, she has survived 3 nights with us, lol.
