Irene

You know, we both grew up in Texas, in tornado alley. We get tornadoes, we know all those little warning signs, yes there may be a tornado WARNING, but we know Texas weather and never trust the tv 100%

Now we are dealing with hurricanes. Huh?

Of course my mind rushes to storm surges, strong winds, we must hoard food, water, gas, etc. Now its looking like Irene may make landfall north of us however I spent all of yesterday planning our evacuation route and looking at hotels.

In Chatham county, anything over a Category 2 that hits within 65 miles of Savannah, it is mandatory evacuation for the entire county.

Now because Andy is Army, they have to fly aircraft to a safe place, stay there, while the families evacuate. We got word today that Andy won't have to fly so he can stay with us and help us evacuate. Andy had to make an evacuation plan today, so to Atlanta we go. He picked there because at least if we are there a few days, we can go visit the aquarium and such.

Weather channel is saying Savannah is going to have moderate effects, whatever that means. We are guessing rain and some winds. So for now, we wait until we get further orders from the Army and the county.

But my pantry is full of water. We'll drink it eventually if we don't need it for this storm.
